How it works

Your experience, said the way panels want to hear it.

Selection criteria aren't a test of your writing. They're a test of whether you can prove you've done the work. We help you show the proof.

  1. Paste the job ad and your CV

Copy in the position description, including the selection criteria section, and your current CV. Plain text is fine. We pick out every criterion and the word limit.

  2. Get your free gap check

See which criteria your CV already covers, which need a sharper example, and where the gaps are. Most people are surprised how much they already have.

  3. Answer one question per criterion

We ask for a real example for each one. A few dot points is plenty: what happened, what you did, and how it turned out.

  4. Get responses ready to submit

Clear STAR responses, written to the word limit in the panel's own language. Edit them, rewrite them, then copy them into the application portal or download a Word document.

The STAR method

The four-part answer panels are trained to look for

Most Australian government and public sector panels score selection criteria using the STAR method. Every JobNod response follows it.

S

Situation

Set the scene in a sentence: where you were and what was going on.

T

Task

What needed to happen, and what your part in it was.

A

Action

What you actually did. This is the part panels care about most.

R

Result

How it turned out, ideally with a number, a timeframe or feedback.

FAQ

Good questions

Is it OK to use AI for selection criteria?

We work from your real experience, and you stay the author: you supply the examples, then review and edit every response. Some employers publish their own guidance on AI in applications, so check the job ad or the agency's careers page and follow it.

Will it make things up?

No. We only use what's in your CV and your answers. If a detail is missing, we write in general terms rather than inventing numbers or achievements. Always read each response and make sure every claim is true.

How long does it take?

The gap check takes a couple of minutes. Answering the questions is the main step, and the more detail you give, the stronger your responses. Writing itself takes a minute or two.

Which jobs is it for?

Any role that asks you to address selection criteria: Australian Public Service, state government, councils, hospitals and health services, schools and universities. It also works for promotions within your current organisation.

Does it handle APS one-page pitches?

Yes. Choose "A one-page pitch" and set the word limit. we address every capability in a single flowing pitch.

What happens to my CV?

Your CV is used only to write your application. It's never used to train AI, and you can delete your applications at any time. Read our privacy policy for the details.

What if I'm not happy with a response?

Every application includes 3 rewrites. Tell us what to change, like "shorter" or "focus more on leadership", and we'll rewrite that response. You can also edit any response directly.
